Problem
With lockstep sparing mode enabled on the above memory configuration, the system memory details are incorrect. Although the total memory size is what is expected on the system summary page, setup shows that DIMMs 1-3, 10-12, and 16-21 are all fully reserved for Reliability Availability and Serviceability (RAS). Whereas the correct implementation only reserves one DIMM per channel. The target date for this release is scheduled for fourth quarter 2015. The file is or will be available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL: http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/Incorrect Memory Reference Code (MRC) setup menu configuration resulted in wrong DIMM displays in setup. WorkaroundAlthough the memory setup for reserved DIMMs is incorrect, the user can still validate that the system is properly configured for ranksparing by checking the net DIMM size and the system configuration status in the setup menu. If the system information displays that the system is in "Lockstep Mirroring Mode" and the DIMM size is less than a fully configured system, the system is properly configured for lockstep sparing mode. Additional informationThe symptoms occur because the setup menu is not properly displaying mixed DIMMs configured for ranksparing. Judging from MRC serial trace, however, ranksparing is happening correctly. The memory size/DIMM configurations are not displayed correctly in the setup menu.
